Have you also "rolled" with your job/career for years? Feel like making a change? It's possible.

Uncertainty is part of our lives, not only in the past few weeks and not only in Israel. It does not weigh on everyone. Researchers who have studied how A. women relate to uncertainty have identified four types. Two do not like uncertainty, one thrives in it and the fourth is indifferent, they are the "gliders".

The "stable" type, Stabilizer - they are so affected by uncertainty that one of their measures of success is achieving a stable job with as little uncertainty as possible.

The "energizer" type, Energizer - they like stability but periods of uncertainty actually energize them and then they go out in search of a meaningful way forward. They will take the time and invest until they find the right answer.

The "adventurer" type, Adventurer - they love uncertainty and challenges, they will find themselves in non-standard activities and make various transitions from one field to another.

The last type is the "glider", Glider - uncertainty does not interest them and is not related to their job/career. They really don't care about uncertainty.

People who "glide" in areas they truly love, care less about what the future holds and where their current engagement will lead them. They can choose a path of self-fulfillment, and within it see many good options, they are actually fulfilling a wish or an inner drive, like a purpose. And when they are in this place, it matters less to them if the way turns this way or that, and their decisions are based on the opportunities that come their way. They also make decisions quickly.

Take for example an algorithm expert. He loves what he does, solving puzzles, he always has job options and cares less about the product that comes out in the end. So he rolls from one project to the next and he is fine. Will he be able to keep doing that forever? Maybe yes. I know several people like that who work remotely from all over the world, so all in all life is good.

Not always do you find the right way at the beginning of your professional life. For example a lawyer who, during years of practicing law, always contemplated and rethought her career. Her job engagement new ups and downs. At some point, she decided to take time and rethink. After a few months of exploration and inner reflections, she decided to switch to teaching. There she found her purpose. Since then she feels like almost all the options are good and she is much less anxious about what will be in the future. As she puts it - she's in a never ending candy store

They can be salespeople, operations managers or support agents, global managers, consultants or advisors. As long as they are passionate about what they are doing, the momentum continues without worry or fear of the certainty around them. They will not join in the general conversation of "the world today is very dynamic, unpredictable and complex, which makes life hard".

Sometimes they get stuck. Personal crisis, global crisis like COVID-19, can make them look back at the path they have taken so far and resent the "momentum", as now they have come to a point where it doesn't fit any more.

If you a glider, want to tell you, that it is totally ok and understandable. Take the time you need, it can half a year or even longer, to think about what fits, what you really want. It won't be easy, and it will surely require learning, contemplation and ultimately decision-making

But then you can go back and be free to flow in a new course that you love.
