There is a kind of credit at the beginning of a new role, which is a shame to waste. One of the things you should do is schedule introductory meetings with everyone possible, even with ranks that are more senior than those who manage you. How to conduct these introductory meetings? Practice in advance introducing yourself very briefly. You really don't need to expand, unless the conversation is fluid, and there is chemistry. Even then you should not volunteer unnecessary information.
Let the person in front of you talk more, and ask questions like:
What is the essence of their role?
What interaction do they have with your unit or are expected to have with you?
What are they used to getting from your position and your unit?
What is most important to them and what can possibly be improved?
Are there things that must not be done? A question with a wink, an opportunity to let them open up and reveal a little more.
What are their direction and ambitions for the next year or two?
Have and how have things changed in recent years in the organization?
Take care to create added value in front of them and let them know that they can also contact you. You can tell about a case where you reacted quickly and well to a crisis. People value help in a crisis much more than normal help.
Summarize every introductory meeting immediately after because it is impossible to remember everything.
Remember that the questions, ideas and insights that emerge at the beginning are usually an intuitive identification thanks to the clean observation of "fresh" eyes. This can be an interesting strategic direction, something problematic, a gap in systemic logic. People who have been in the field for a while do not see this - and this is an opportunity for innovation and value Your supplement!
Good luck!
